Mould Testing

How do you test for mould in the air?

We utilize an air sampling pump to pull air through cassette and collect any mould spores that may be in the air. We are then able to look at the collected spores under a microscope so we can count and classify them based on the genus. At the end, we can let you know what types of mould are in the air, how much of each type, and what that means for your safety!

Infrared Inspection

Can you tell if mould is growing in walls?

Though we cannot see through walls, the use of an infrared camera can help identify retained moisture or water damage which can indicate mould growth behind drywall. This allows us to quickly cover large area of the home and narrow in on problem areas which may require further testing or intrusive sampling to fully understand the issue.

Air Monitoring?

Why do you test the air for chemicals during an investigation?

Environmental conditions during a mould assessment help our inspectors narrow down the root cause of the mould growth and direct our search. Issues like high humidity can promote mould growth in unusual places and is usually an easy fix. Other common reports, such as musty odours, can on occasion be attributed to soil gasses and volatile organic chemicals which can result from various other issues not related to mould or moisture.
